Megan Thee Stallion’s Hot New Album

Will it help to ease the painful transition from hot girl summer into hot girl winter?

Megan Thee Stallion, also known as Thee Hot Girl, is a 26-year-old rapper from Houston, Texas who has taken over the music industry in recent years with hits like “WAP” featuring Cardi B, “Savage,” and “Girls in The Hood.” Her music promotes empowerment, confidence, and sex positivity. Women around the world have been inspired by Megan’s success as a Black woman in an overwhelmingly male-dominated industry, and she is paving the way for other female artists. Megan recently received Glamour’s Woman of The Year Award and in her speech, she thanked all of the strong, self assured women in her life for teaching her that “other women don’t need to lose for me to win.” She preaches empowerment rather than competition. Now that is some real hot girl shit! But Megan’s skill set is definitely not limited to rapping. In December, she is graduating from Texas Southern University with a bachelor’s degree in health administration, and she is a dog mom to six adorable pups. Because of the provocative and explicit nature of her songs, Megan and other artists are often reduced to their public personas and are unable to be seen as professional, intelligent, or respectable. Megan is calling out this misjudgement and proving that college-educated women like herself can rap about sex and confidence while also being smart and strong women. Megan also contributes to the fight against misogynoir and the oversexualization of Black women. I could go on forever about Megan’s many accomplishments and talents, but let’s talk about her newest album, “Something For Thee Hotties.”

Megan said that this album is “from the archives,” implying that many of the songs had been previously recorded but never formally released. “Something For Thee Hotties” sets itself apart from her recent albums with 5 freestyles, 2 skits, and epic features like Juicy J and Dino Btw. The album pays tribute to Megan’s oldest fans by bringing back her freestyles, which is how she began rapping, and including songs from some of her very first mixtapes. The album also contains the 2021 hit single “Thot Shit” which has proved to be a fan favorite. Some other highlights include “Tuned In Freestyle,” “Eat It,” and “Megan’s Piano,” all of which boast Megan’s classic catchy flow and bad bitch lyrics. Honorable mentions include “Megan Monday Freestyle” and “Bae Goals.” “To Thee Hotties,” the last track on the album, is a heartfelt 53-second thank you from Megan to all of her supporters. Megan’s old rap styles definitely shine through throughout the album.

“Something for Thee Hotties” is not for everyone, and while this does not apply to me, some people just do not enjoy Megan’s style of rap. However, if you are already a fan or are looking to join the Hotties, you should give it a listen. With modern hip hop trends and inspiration from 90s rap, there’s something on this album for you. If you're in need of a confidence boost, a pregame playlist, or a music refresh, give “Something for Thee Hotties” a listen and check out Megan’s other chart-topping albums, like “Good News” and “Fever.” Thanks for reading, and have a great day, Hotties!
