Spider-Man: No Way Home

You did this for what?

Spoiler Warning

Three different Spider-Mans in one movie. What is not to like? Marvel employs a plotline that begins with Peter Parker and his friends being denied from their dream school MIT, and everyone knows who Spider-Man is. To fix this, Peter goes to Doctor Strange. Peter meddles with the spell Dr. Strange tries to use to remedy Peter's issues, causing universes to overlap.

The film then brings together Spider-Mans from different universes as well as their villains.

The innocent Toby Maguire plays a mentor role, while awkward and sweet Andrew Garfield's Peter Parker adds a comedic element to the film.

Despite its comedic moments and familiar characters, after the credits rolled I couldn’t help but think that the whole movie happened for nothing. The chaos that unfolded should not have been caused simply by a young high schooler messing with a spell. At the end of the movie, Peter learned he saved the bad guys, he did some good, and at least his friends were admitted to MIT as he hoped. However, Aunt May is dead and no one knows who Peter is, which is a twist I did not see coming and still don’t understand why it was necessary.

That being said, it will keep us on our toes as we wonder if Peter can win MJ and Ned back in the next sequel, which we were given a glimpse of in Marvel's famous ending scene depicting a possible Venom-like villain.
