Before this album was brought to my attention, I did not realize that legendary punk-rock pioneers Buzzcocks were still making music. But, as it turns out, despite pushing 70 years old, they’re still kicking. Now, unfortunately, this does not mean the release kicks (ass), and maybe I shouldn’t have expected it to. For starters, it seems to be a general trend that punk-rock bands get worse as they continue in their careers: Bad Religion, Rancid, and Green Day (debatably punk), to name a few. I’m not entirely sure what I expected; I guess something a bit more energetic. Though perhaps that was an ill-conceived expectation, given the aging band members. Nonetheless, I found the album to be immensely disappointing and rather boring. It sounded more like a hard-rock act than anything resembling punk, pop, or otherwise, and it was just as boring as one.

Every track on the album started off promising, with fun riffs that got me excited, only to fall flat as soon as the intro ended and the song actually began. The standout track of the album for me was “Just a Dream I Followed,” mainly because it sort of stuck the landing and didn't totally bore me like the rest of the tracks. No punk song should be anywhere close to boring.
